Holiday Season Down Under

When you live Down Under
Christmas may be behind you but you have a long hot month of holiday madness, where the kids drive you insane. You have to wait a whole five weeks for things to return to normal. New Years Eve is sitting around in Air Conditioned home or at the beach and BBQ waiting for the fire works to start, and your pets to run away.

Sparkly dresses! I think not, your way to Hot by the extreme weather or worried about the incoming bush fire. You wear your flip flops (or what Aussies call thongs) on your feet and shorts, tank tops or even swim clothes. Watching the kids play in the pool.

Other than that, nothing can get down the Aussie spirit or the excuse to throw another snag on the BBQ, or drink another beer, and celebrate with good mates.

Happy New Year to everyone in Northern or Southern Hemisphere!

Party Time and Other News

I hope everyone has had a merry festive season, lots of reading to be done these holidays, and much writing as well. Due to popular demand I have started writing Kelon Warrior book no.5. No doubt my publisher will be happy.
I've decided to tell Solorn's story, the Kelon Dr. has been a stable character throughout the books, but everyone deserves a shot at love, don't you think?
Anyway, wishing everyone a happy and prosperous New Year. Be all you can be in 2012, so you can look back and say... whoa, what a year!

New Website

For some unknown reason, and believe me I have checked, so as my DH checked. For the reason why google decided to disable my old website. Was I mad? Yes! But from the ashes rises the phoenix... or less dramatically a new Web Site. Yay!

Without further Ade... please feel free to visit.

Dangerous Moonlight Questions

I’ve had a few people asking about my Moon Shadow series, so I’ll answer the questions.
When is your next book coming out? Well, hard to say, I have been working on Dangerous Moonlight 2, working title Sin’s City. It is near completion; I have a few loose ends to tighten up before I can do a vigorous edit and submit it to Cobblestone Press.
Where did I get the Idea for the story? Neman is based on a real life man I know, who is a hero every day in my books; he is actually a body guard for a prince in an Arab country. He’s got a great bod, and a sweetheart to boot.
I am a hug mythology fan, but avoided the Greek gods as they have way to many stories. I though ancient Sumerian gods were a good target for a story and spent a good month researching them.
Vanessa is a woman after my own heart, fun sassy and everything I wish I could be, she was fun to write, along with all the other characters in the book.
It was my intention to have a fun sexy romance that would make you laugh, and if it’s done that, my mission is complete!
Will you write more in the series? Yes, I’ve already started a second dragon book which will fall under the Moon Shadows series, I have two more planned using the characters from the original story.
If there are, any other questions write and let me know. angelacastleleros@yahoo.com
Hugs
Angela.

Coffee Time Romance Review for Stealing Fire!!

STEALING FIRESequel to Blue FireANGELA CASTLEISBN#: 9781936403240July 15, 2011Rogue Phoenix Presshttp://www.roguephoenixpress.com/E Book$3.99105 PagesParanormal RomanceRating: 5 Cups Adalardo is King of the Kells, a race of people on another planet. Nearly all of their women have been killed in a war with the Drac, so the remaining men including the king are looking for mates among the women of Earth. Penny Summerton is an unhappy, battered wife who despises her husband. She lives for the times that her husband is not at home and she can have some time to herself. When Penny uses some of her free time to go to the outdoor market with the hopes of finding some fresh fruits and vegetables, she has no idea she is about to run into her own future. Because she is not watching where she is going, she runs smack into Adalardo then falls down and cracks her head on the ground. She is unprepared for the handsome king to help her up and treat her tenderly. Unfortunately, the smack on her head causes her to faint and Adalardo and Jane, his best friend's wife, take her back to Jane's apartment. Adalardo knows right away that Penny is the woman for him and that he wants her for his queen, but she is married and, as such, off-limits. However, everything changes when the police show up at Jane's door and they are forced to return to Kell, taking Penny with them. Penny sees Kell as the perfect opportunity to escape her abusive husband forever, but when she confesses her wish and the fact that she is an abused wife to Adalardo, he has other ideas. Adalardo wants to bring her husband to Kell and challenge him, thus beating him and winning Penny for his own. But there are other forces at work, forces that could take Penny from Adalardo forever. Will his plan backfire, or will the Kells and their human spouses be able to overcome a great evil? Stealing Fire has everything you could ever want in a fantasy romance! I absolutely LOVED it! Ms. Castle does a fantastic job of incorporating all of the elements this reader loves in a romance novel: fantasy, aliens, supernatural bad guys, and characters that have a wonderful humanness to them. The wizard Tuthal ended up being one of my favorite secondary characters simply because of his willingness to realize he had made a mistake in his youth. It made him easy to relate to. In truth though, and this is another plus for this novel, all of the characters are easy to relate to. I also loved the chivalry of the Kell men when it came to human women. They simply cannot understand men or a society that abuses women and does not treat them as the treasures they are. I really liked that. Also, Ms. Castle has a real talent for incorporating realistic secondary characters into the story line, and I really enjoyed getting to know a bit about all the other players in the world of Kell. I am definitely looking forward to reading the first book in this series, Blue Fire, and any succeeding books in the future. Please keep them coming Ms. Castle, I for one will be buying! You Have Been Compromised

Okay, so I get a phone call yesterday telling me one of my Visa cards has been compromised. I am first and for most a skeptic when people ring me or send me emails telling me there is a virus or I need to send my account details to them, or I have suddenly become the beneficiary of a few billion dollars from someone I never knew.
I said I would contact my branch, but sure enough it was genuine. (yes I was surprised)
But, when I asked the question, since when have you known about this compromise? As I have detected nothing out of the ordinary with my debit cards.
“Oh, for the past two years.”
So it’s taken my bank two years to inform me that my card details may have been skimmed, two years for them knowing about this and contact the possible victims. WTF!!!
Now I have inconvenienced of not being able to easily access my account while I am re-issued with another.
But to make matters ever better (yes, you can hear the sarcastic tone coming through) thirty min later I got a second Phone call from a separate bank telling me that my other Visa Debit card had been compromised!
Yes, it was the same story. Two years for them to inform me of it.
Keep a close check on your bank statements and cards, and rely on your own deduction, because the banks are bloody useless.

Tempting Tara Sneek Peek.

With Ten days left until my second (small) book in the Kelon Warrior series comes out, here is a sneak peak.

Excerpt

“Hello, Pretty.”

Melron’s deep voice startled Tara, making her jump half off the bed. “Cripes, Melon, you scared me half to death!”

He was staring down on her from the foot of the bed. “How do you like my home planet?”

She twisted around to sit up on her knees, sucking in a breath as her eyes swept over him. He was out of his ship’s uniform; wearing a sandy-coloured tunic and black leather-like pants. His black warrior locks were bound back, reminding Tara of a swashbuckling pirate of old Earth. God, he was sexy. Dark, dangerous, that sense of the untamed just barely suppressed below the surface. Those sensual lips twisting up into a killer smile. Tara had trouble breathing let alone getting out a coherent sentence.

“From what I’ve um, seen so far I think it’s um, it’s nice.”

He leaned over the bed to hold out his hand to her. “Come with me.”

She stared at him. “Why?”

His smile never wavered. “Do you fear me?” He withdrew his hand.

“No,” Her chin rose. “But I don’t want you trying to lay claim again, either.”

“I will not do that until you are ready for me to do so, but I am not the only one who will attempt to lay claim. Come see.”

She frowned in confusion. He stepped back from the bed, allowing her space to climb off. He walked to the large glass window looking down into the street. She followed. There seemed to be a gathering of Kelon men outside the gates of the house.

“Who are they?”

“Suitors for you.”

Tara was outraged. “For me? But haven’t they been informed I’m not available.”

“Pretty Tara, the sooner you understand the Kelon way the sooner you will come to realise, you will never be ‘unavailable’ until you are mated.”

Her temper started to simmer. “Kerr said I could go back to Earth. Did he lie?”

“He will keep his promise, but more like he is hoping that you will not. You must know they will not give up until you are taken.”

She refused to look at him; she knew damn well that if he propositioned her again she would have a hard time denying him. She was still trying hard to turn her lust for Melron into outrage.

“This is your entire fault,” she accused, keeping her gaze on the window, not really seeing anything. She was too acutely aware of the man beside her.

“Do you really want your freedom, pretty Tara?”

She felt him shift, his eyes watching her. He gently cupped her chin to turn and tilt her head up. Even the simplest of touches sent races of electric jolts though her body. She had to focus on what he had said, on what he was getting at.

“You are but a prisoner here, Tara; you will not be able to go anywhere without protection, from them.”

“What about protection from you!” she snapped, pulling back from his grasp.

“I do not think you need that. You know as well as I, that you belong with me.”

“The hell I do!” Denial thumped at the back of her head, even if her body was on fire. She couldn’t get past him. His large, muscled frame blocked the path from the window to the door. As she inched backward, he came forward until she hit the wall.

“No, my pretty, hear me. I have a plan for you that will give you freedom while you are here on Kelon.”

She swallowed, her eyes glued to the rippling wall of muscled chest before moving up to his face and fixing on his lips. Her tongue darted out to moisten her own.

“Plan?” Her gaze shifted a little further up to his starlight depths.

“You will spend your time with me.” She frowned at him. “Tell Kerr you are considering me as a mate and want to spend time with me before clarifying your choice. If you still do not desire me after the fourth cycle, then I will make sure you are taken safely back to Earth.”

Tara thought about his words and the implications they carried. Could she spend all that time with Melron and not be affected?

“What would that entail exactly?”

“You would be in my home under my protection. I will take you wherever you wish to go on Kelon, or off world. I have a short range skimmer ship.” His black eyes skimmed down her body in a possessive gesture. “With your implant we could indulge in pleasures without it being a permanent mating.” His voice had dropped into a husky tone. She couldn’t suppress a shudder at the sensual promise of his words.

“So, if I still say no after the four weeks, you’ll just let me go home?”

“You have my oath as a Kelon warrior.”

She nervously licked her lips. “What if someone else takes my fancy other than you?” She knew it was hardly possible, but couldn’t stop herself from asking just to see his reaction.

An angry, dangerous look flashed across his face; his lips pressed into a thin line. Gone were any traces of humour. He drew in a steady breath as if trying to calm himself.

“That is of course your choice.” He spoke the words but she knew from his reaction he wouldn’t allow her to get even near another Kelon male. She would be protected from the gathering outside. Be a prisoner here in Kerr and Alice’s home or get out and about with Melron. Not to mention she’d get to taste of all that brawn and muscle. It was not a bad plan. Tara actually smiled at him for the first time since they had taken her from Earth. Hell yeah, a frigging great plan, hot sex with a hot alien. No strings attached.

“All right, I agree.”

Inspiration vs. Getting it done

It’s all good to be inspired with an idea or a story, inspiration is only 10% of the equation when it comes down to the crunch, the rest has to be 40% sheer determination and the rest is simple plane hard work. Yes, I know the word “work” is a dirty word to some but it is inescapable.
Sitting down and hammering out every single word, making it flow the plot stay on track, the dialog sound plausible. So on and so forth.
Once you get the elation of writing, right through to the last chapter, then comes the revision, is your spelling, grammar okay? Should I test run the book get it critiqued in order to catch the things I missed?
Critique partners are a gem to be treasured.
Summing it up, if you want to write your book, you have to stick with it until the very nitty gritty end.
So if feel inspired, great! If you have the determination, even better, get out there and write

I’ve borrowed this from Katharine Brandon all credit for this next bit goes to her.

Want to get that manuscript finished before RWA National or another conference so you can pitch it to an agent or editor? Come closer, I'll tell you the secret in five easy steps.

1. Turn off the television and write.

2. Exit out of your email and write.

3. Get off Facebook/Twitter and write.

4. Get out of bed one hour earlier or go to bed one hour later and write.

5. That's it, kids. Just write!

What No Mop?

My old floor mop has seen better day, so as any good house keeper does goes into the big department store to find new one.
I knew what I wanted, and had visions of it dancing in my head as I pushed the trolly towards the cleaning product isle.
Upon arrival I scanned the very limited selections available alas not the mop I wanted. Yet sitting opposite was the desired brand of mop, bucket.
Confused I summoned a store worker to query her on where the mop to the bucket was.
“Oh we don’t stock those kind of mops anymore,” the store worker informed me.
“But you have the mop bucket,” said I, holding the red bucket up.
“Oh they can be used with other mops.”
“Really, which one?”
She scanned the line of shelves, and then said, “I guess we don’t stock those anymore either.”
Needless to say I left without any mop, feeling frustrated. For a huge department store that boast variety. They had nothing to offer.
Why talk about my mop shopping trip? No reason, just miffed. Oh and I did get the mop I wanted, in a tiny little supermarket in my home town. And I do have a very clean floor, Yay.

Funny thing about hero worship

And no, I don't mean the hero's in my books, I mean everyday people out there doing what you admire and wish you were doing yourself.
I had a person I have admired and envied for a long time talk to me last night. I got a giddy thrill from the fact that this wonderful person to want to know me and interact.
I could name throw but my ego is inflated enough as it is.
But it got me thinking about hero worship and how we take or learn from them.

For myself I don't think its good enough to sit back and simply watch what they do, and go, 'oh, yeah, aren't they great'.
You have to become your own hero, instead of wishing, get out there and live your dream.

Turn yourself into someone you admire. Live your dream instead of simply dreaming.
But I can't there are so many things standing in my way, I don't have skills. I've heard so many people say.
I personally lack in so many skills, heck I can't spell, nor is my grammar and punctuation up to scratch, but have I let it stand in my way of becoming a successful writer? Hell no. There is always a way.

So, go on and get out there and do it.
Phew, I feel exhausted from that rant now, time for a cuppa tea and some story writing.

Abducting Alice Review and others.

I want to start with thanking all the review sites who have taken the time to review my stories, and to thank all the readers who have or haven't enjoyed them also.

Whipped cream have reviewed Abducting Alice. I am happy with the rating they gave it, but what interested me more was the actual review itself. Full of rich detail and depth without giving anything away.

This of course set me thinking about my journey as an author.

I am aware Sci-fi stories (human female abduction ones) have been done to death. There is much cliche around the subject.

To be fair, when I wrote this very little tale, I had no idea what I was doing at the time. Only that I was passionate about romance and Sci-fi romance at that. I was also writing Blue Fire at the same time.

Since being accepted by publishers my learning curve as a writer has been a very steep one. I've joined writers clubs, and guilds. The support and learning I have received from the Melbourne Romance Writers Guild has been invaluable.

I write what I love, and feel. I think that showed through in Blue Fire and hopefully the soon to be released Stealing Fire andStealing Fire.

This is not in defense of any bad review. They can sting yes, but you have to take the bad with the good. Grow stronger or get grumpier.

Updating

Okay, yes I'm a bad blogger, Life is short so I'm out there living it. To my news, Dangerous Moonlight is now out at Fiction wise, and All Romance.com. Much to my excitement. Still waiting for it to go to Amazon, mind you. I have finished Sin's City Dangerous Moonlight 2, but it needs a good tidy up. I have submitted Dragon Down Under to a new publisher, so fingers crossed, I wait with abated breath. Tempting Tara is still coming out in June, and Stealing Fire July 17th! I am planing to do something special for the launch of Stealing Fire, so stay tuned.

Stealing Fire Cover

I have been informed (subject to change) that Stealing Fire will be released in July, Yay, says I!

My wonderful publisher and editor has been working hard on this, to which I am eternally grateful.

In other News Tempting Tara will be released in June. No art cover for that yet, but am looking forward to it.

I am working towards finishing Sin's City Dangerous Moonlight 2. I wonder why the last few chapters are the hardest to write?

An amazing month.

It's been an amazing month. Destined Hearts was released, and Abducting Alice is still a best seller.

I've been working on edits for Stealing Fire and Keeping Katie. They both now have book covers.

I have completed Dragon Down Under and I am revising it, ready for submission, along with the third of my Kelon books Resisting Rachel.

Sometimes I feel as if the progress on my other works is moving at a snails pace. But I chip away at it one bit at a time, and eventually they get finished. Family and working life can get a bit hectic at times.

Tempting Tara

I am thrilled to receive my new contract for Tempting Tara with Whiskey Creek Press. This will be my second, and hopefully not last contract with them. Temping Tara is the sequel to Abducting Alice, the romance between Alice's spit fire sister Tara and Melron the younger brother of Kerr.... for those who have read Abducting Alice. (No.1 at Whiskey Creek Press this month.)

I'm looking forward to the editing and new book cover.

I've also finished the third book Resisting Rachel, which is undergoing edits and polishing at the moment, I'm confident by the end of this month it will be ready for submission.

I'm a Best Seller!

Opening e-mails are always fun, but getting one from your publishers informing you, your their best seller this month, was such a rush, my family though I'd harmed myself, from the excited shriek I let out!

Go figure, Abducting Alice, (which was rejected by a few publishers) before Whiskey Creek Press Torrid picked it up, is a Best Seller.

It make me proud that my work is, not only selling well, that people are enjoying it all over the world, that my efforts, neglected house (at times) is not all for nort.

What next? I'm sure I'll be trippin' on this high for a while, and bragging about it to EVERYONE, but I've still got to knuckle down and finish my other writing projects.

And for anyone who didn't hear my shriek earlier today YOOOOO HOOOO!

A Busy Week

Fans of Blue Fire, there is a Sequel! Stealing Fire will be coming to Rogue Phoenix Press. Stealing Fire picks up where it was left off, with a duel romance and story intertwined and hopefully just as enjoyable as Blue Fire is.

There is a release date for Destined Hearts: Vampires of Archalon. 4th Feb, watch out at Cobblestone Press for that hot title.

Not sure when Keeping Katie is coming, it's still in the publisher pipe lines at the moment.

Now all I am waiting on is to hear back from Whiskey Creek Press concerning Tempting Tara, the sequel to Abducting Alice.

My PC broke down so I am in the process of obtaining a new one, and when your an obsessive writer, not having a word process can drive you insane at time. Fingers crossed the new one comes soon. And thank goodness I do back ups!

I am thrilled, and now look forward to the release of my book, with Cobblestone Press.

Busy, busy, busy!

I suppose I don’t have to remind you or myself what a bad blogger I am.

New book out, Abducting Alice, I've been getting some great feed back so far.

A great new review for Blue Fire http://www.twolipsreviews.com/content/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=5801&Itemid=36

I've working on edits for two new books with Rouge Phoenix Press, and Cobblestone Press.

I’ve been working on edits for dragon down under, and trust me it needs a lot of work. Also I’ve re-opened my NaNoWrMo novel, and have started editing. I want to get it polished and up to submission standards.

Among that I’ve been writing bits of Sin’s City the second installment to Dangerous Moonlight, Trying to finish the third of my Kelon series. Sounds busy?
Well I also have two part time jobs, and a house and family to look after… Phew, I feel exhausted just writing all this down.

It’s going to be a full fun year! Yay, at least life is not dull! hahaha
